Community feedback invited to help shape the future of Dungog Common

LOCAL residents and user groups are being invited to help shape the future of one of the area’s most treasured public spaces, the Dungog Common.

Dungog Community Projects Limited (DCP) has issued a call for nominations to join a new Advisory Group (DCAG) for the area.

Dave Layzell MP, Member for Upper Hunter

The invitation follows the NSW Government’s recent appointment of DCP as the Crown Land Manager for the Dungog Common Recreation Reserve.

The Advisory Group will play a key role in guiding the environmental, recreational, cultural and economic use of the Common.

Immediate priorities for DCP include continuing the vital Koala Habitat Project, enhancing visitor signage, and upgrading parking and access ahead of the 2025 Sculpture on the Farm event.

The group also aims to improve and maintain infrastructure across mountain biking tracks, walking trails, and horse riding facilities.

DCP Chair Penny Willcock said the Advisory Group will help ensure the reserve remains a well-managed, inclusive, and vibrant space for all users.

“This is an exciting opportunity for locals to have a direct say in the future of the Common and contribute to projects that matter to our community,” Ms Willcock said.

Dungog Community Projects Limited, formed in 2023, is a not-for-profit organisation led by a local board with deep experience in land management.

The board includes Ms Willcock, Mr Howard Glenn, Ms Marion Stuart, Mr Allen Shrimpton and Mr Scott King.

Community members and representatives of key user groups are encouraged to apply for the DCAG. Nominations close at 6pm on Wednesday, 21 May 2025.
