REPRESENTATIVES from the Dungog Rumble and Dungog Shire Palliative Care Volunteers met on Sunday afternoon, 7 December at the Bank Hotel, Dungog.
The Rumble is a popular charity show and shine event for cars, trucks, bikes and machinery.
The Palliative Care Volunteers help out locals with a life limiting illness and their families.
This year all the funds raised by the Rumble are going to the Palliative Care Volunteers.
On Sunday the two groups came together for the presentation of a giant cheque.
The 2025 Rumble, held in October, was the biggest show yet.
It had the largest number of entries, the most spectators, and raised the most money.
Appropriately, the cheque which the Rumble gave the Volunteers was physically huge.
The amount raised was a whopping $30,000.
The Volunteers spent the money on a new car, as one of the ways they help locals is with free transport.
The Sign Place Maitland attached sponsors’ logos and a list of sponsors to the new vehicle.
The Rumble’s hotrod logo takes pride of place on a front guard.
During the presentation, there was a recurring theme.
All the speakers stressed how important it is that local groups work together to support the Dungog Shire community.
Committee member Cindy Fisher said of the Rumble, “It’s great that the recipient gets the funds, but it’s also important for the community and businesses that it really brings the town to life for that weekend.”
Following the presentation, the Rumble members held their AGM.
Next year’s Rumble, to be held as usual on the third Saturday in October, will be their 15th annual show.
Plans are already in place to make it the best ever.
