Dungog netball shines at senior state titles

DUNGOG Netball Association has returned from the Netball NSW Senior State Titles on the June Long Weekend with plenty to celebrate, including a division championship, a top-five finish and the prestigious Spirit Award.

Represented by both Under 15 and Under 17 teams, Dungog proudly showcased the talent, determination and sportsmanship that have become hallmarks of the association.

The Under 15s enjoyed an outstanding tournament, producing three days of exceptional netball to claim the Division 4 title.

The team lost just one match across the entire weekend and finished on top of the ladder, earning the title of Division Champions.

Their consistent performances, teamwork and determination were evident throughout the competition and culminated in a well-deserved championship victory.

The Under 17s also had an impressive campaign, remaining undefeated throughout the first two days of competition and establishing themselves among the leading teams in their division.

Heading into Day 3, the girls knew they faced a tough challenge, coming up against teams sitting alongside them at the top of the ladder.

While the final day brought some hard-fought losses, the team never stopped competing, displaying resilience, determination and teamwork in every game. Their efforts saw them finish in an impressive fifth place overall, a remarkable achievement at a state-level competition.

Throughout the weekend, both teams represented Dungog Netball Association with pride, demonstrating not only their skill on the court but also their respect for opponents, officials and fellow competitors.

Adding to the success of the weekend, Dungog Netball Association was honoured with the coveted Spirit Award. Voted on by fellow associations, the award recognises outstanding sportsmanship, camaraderie, encouragement and fair play throughout the tournament.

Association officials praised the players for the way they conducted themselves both on and off the court, noting that the Spirit Award was a reflection of the values the association strives to promote.

The success of the weekend would not have been possible without the dedication of the coaches, managers, volunteers, parents and supporters who provided unwavering encouragement throughout the three-day event.

For the Under 15s, Coach Renae Trow, Assistant Coach Suzy Tierney and Manager Brooke Smith guided the team to their division-winning performance.

The Under 17s were led by Coach Jason Kozacynski, Assistant Coach Imogen Brownlee and Manager Amanda Prince, who helped the team achieve their outstanding top-five finish.

Dungog Netball Association extends its congratulations to all players, coaches, managers and supporters involved. Winning a division title, finishing fifth in a highly competitive field and bringing home the Spirit Award made for a memorable and successful Senior State Titles campaign.

The association is incredibly proud of the way both teams represented Dungog and the wider community, proving that success is measured not only by results but also by the spirit in which the game is played.

We are excited for our Under 12’s team who will be competing at their very first Junior State Titles and wish them the very best of luck as they head off to Camden on the first weekend in July.
