PCYC NSW calls for EOFY donations to support youth employment programs

YOUTH charity PCYC NSW has launched its end-of-financial-year tax appeal, urging Australians to support programs that help young people overcome barriers to employment.

With youth unemployment among Australians aged 15 to 24 sitting at 10.1 percent, more than double the national unemployment rate, PCYC NSW says demand for its employability programs remains strong.

The organisation supported 515 young people facing employment challenges in 2025 through initiatives designed to build confidence, skills and workplace connections.

One of the young people to benefit from the program is 18-year-old Majok Lual, who found stable employment after years of moving between casual jobs.

“The opportunities I got through PCYC employability programs have changed the trajectory of my life,” Majok said.

“PCYC put me on the right path and gave me my start in construction.

“I’m now working towards becoming a Construction Manager.

“I wouldn’t be here today without my involvement in Stepping Up.”

PCYC NSW’s Stepping Up program provides one-on-one career mentoring for school leavers aged 17 to 21, helping participants build relationships with employers and develop long-term career pathways.

General Manager Fundraising and Marketing Bree Godden said donations help keep the programs free for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.

“Gaining meaningful employment helps young people contribute to stronger communities and even support their families, sometimes their pay cheque is the reason food is on their family table,” Ms Godden said.

“Your donation empowers the next generation to build brighter futures they can be proud of, while also providing you with a tax benefit before 30 June.”

PCYC NSW’s Fit for Work program has also delivered strong results, with 83 percent of participants in 2025 either returning to education or gaining employment.
