RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say on Dungog Shire Council’s Draft Business Improvement Strategy, which outlines a roadmap for how Council intends to improve its operations over the next decade.
The draft strategy is currently on public exhibition and will remain open for community feedback until 17 July.
Deputy Mayor Liam Ley said the document would help shape the way Council delivers services over the next 10 years.
“I would encourage people to actually have a look at this if you do have a few minutes,” Cr Ley said.
“I know a document called Business Improvement Strategy doesn’t exactly sound thrilling, but it is actually an important piece of work.”
Cr Ley said the strategy sets out a long-term plan for improving Council operations and delivering better outcomes for residents.
“It essentially sets a roadmap of how Council will improve and how we will operate over the next 10 years,” he said.
“The aim is ultimately to deliver better outcomes for you, the community.”
The strategy focuses on improving customer service, making better use of technology, strengthening Council’s long-term financial sustainability, working more closely with the community and regional partners, and developing a capable workforce.
Cr Ley said councils were increasingly expected to deliver more services while managing rising costs and limited funding.
“Having that clear strategy really helps ensure that we’re investing our time and resources into the right areas,” he said.
He encouraged residents to read the document and provide feedback before the exhibition period closes.
“Community input really does help ensure that long-term plans reflect the priorities and expectations that the people ultimately want in the community,” Cr Ley said.
