Grants open for applications from charities and not-for-profits

CHARITIES and not-for-profit organisations in regional NSW with inspiring ideas are encouraged to apply for financial assistance through a grant from the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation (NPCF).

This year the NPCF’s annual grassroots grants program has more than $540,000 available to support the health and social wellbeing of communities in regional NSW.

The program offers grants between $25,000 and $50,000 for small-scale initiatives that can be delivered within 12 months and will have a lasting impact on their community.

Previous recipients have included the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, the Mark Hughes Foundation and Eat Up Australia.

NPCF spokesperson Kirrah McClelland said the program provides an important opportunity for community organisations to secure funding for initiatives that might not otherwise be possible.

“We see so many charities and not-for-profit organisations with inspiring ideas that are making a real difference in the lives of people in regional NSW,” she said.

“We know that even small investments can have a lasting impact when they support initiatives that are driven by people who know their communities best.

“Whether it’s improving wellbeing, increasing access to services or creating opportunities for connection, these grants help bring grassroots initiatives to life.”

The program also offers a standalone grant for an organisation that relies on volunteers, with funding available to build capacity through training, system enhancements or volunteer recruitment initiatives,

Applications open on Thursday 1 October and close at 11.59pm on 31 October.
