Dungog Shire Palliative Care Volunteers host morning tea to highlight services

THE Dungog Shire Palliative Care Volunteers group hosted a free morning tea for the community on Saturday 18 April at the Dungog CWA Hall.

The group provides free services for local people diagnosed with a life-limiting illness across the local government area.

Family and friends are also provided assistance through services such as carer support groups.

The group’s motto is “a caring hand to help”.

Member Lyn Moseley said the morning tea was intended to “spread the word within the community” about the group’s services and the need for more volunteers.

A variety of roles are available, with free training provided.

Visitors from across the Dungog Shire and beyond attended to peruse information on services, ask questions and enjoy a cuppa and a selection of sweet treats provided by local CWA members.

The event was made possible by a state government grant.

Other palliative care organisations also shared in the funding, and held their own events.
