Club celebrates the people who make it great.

THIS Saturday, August 15, promises to be a day to remember when the Paterson River Rugby League club hosts the Morpeth Bulls in their final home game of the 2026 season.

Prior to the men’s D Grade clash, ladies’ league tag will take the field from 2pm, with Morpeth battling it out with Gloucester.

The day won’t solely revolve around the pitch, however.

In the words of the club: Some days are bigger than football.

Those gathered at Vacy will be there to celebrate “the people who built our club, the sponsors who continue to stand beside us, and a community that has always backed the blue and white”.

The club will host its Old Boys and Sponsors functions on the day. There will be a BBQ courtesy of Paterson Butchery, a one-off Retro Jersey Raffle and Auction, and meat raffles courtesy of the Gresford Meat Co.

The main event, however, will be the official re-naming of Vacy Sportsground.

“The club is proud and honoured that Dungog Shire Council has officially confirmed the renaming of Vacy Sportsground to Keith and Lesley Miles Oval,” the club announced.

“Keith and Lesley dedicated so much of their lives to the Vacy community.

“Their generosity, commitment and unwavering support has left a legacy that will live on for generations.

“It is only fitting that future players, families and visitors will know the oval by their names.

“Come along and help us honour two truly deserving members of our community while catching up with old teammates, friends and supporters.

“Whether you wore the jersey, sponsored the club, volunteered behind the scenes or simply love being part of our rugby league family, we’d love to see you there.

“Let’s make it a day Keith and Lesley’s family, and our entire Paterson River community, will never forget.”
