Emily Robinson becomes youngest presenter on Radio Dungog

A YOUNG new hotshot has been the talk of the town after her community radio debut on 2DCR Radio Dungog.

Clarence Town’s Emily Robinson is in her final year of high school and has recently started a new program called “Album Of The Hour.”

During the program she plays an album from beginning to end while providing listeners with analysis, facts and comment.

Robinson spoke to News Of The Area about her inspiration for her chosen format.

“People have lost the art of listening to albums all the way through,” she said.

“They are picking random songs off Spotify.

“I want to bring the art of albums back and introduce people in Dungog to new music and new artists.”

In the flagship episode, she covered popstar Olivia Rodrigo’s new album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” and is looking to do deep dives into other albums by Australian artists like Thelma Plum.

Although she is the youngest presenter at the station, Robinson is full of ideas.

When speaking to her, the enthusiasm she radiates is contagious.

What started off as a work experience opportunity has evolved into a passion she is sure she will continue with.

The Radio Dungog studios recently received a massive upgrade and change of location to Dungog Showground.

President of Radio Dungog, Nola McDonald thinks this interest from the younger generation is fantastic.

“This is what community radio is all about,” she said.

“The new facilities we have help facilitate that training.

“We are hoping to get a younger crowd involved.”

You can catch Emily and “Album Of The Hour” on 107.9 FM at 2.30 on Tuesdays.
