I WRITE in response to your article, “Hanson loses appeal over ‘seriously offensive’ tweet”, (NOTA, 29/7/26, Page 2).
Senator Pauline Hanson’s so-called “seriously offensive and racist comment” was made in reply to Senator Merheen Faruqi’s extraordinary and disgraceful statement on the day our late Queen died.
Ms Faruqi had described our late Queen as “the leader of a racist empire built on stolen lives, land and the wealth of colonised peoples”.
This nasty, obnoxious, anglophobic rant about our late Queen and her people (us) was rude, offensive and insulting.
I think Merheen Faruqi should [insert insult here]. But, more importantly, the racial vilification laws need to be repealed and our immigration programme seriously reviewed; not just by greatly reducing the numbers but by making efforts to exclude people who are likely to be incompatible with our values and our tolerant society.
Senator Pauline Hanson continuously exhibits great courage and persistence in openly opposing ‘woke’ agendas and the ever-growing authoritarianism that seeks to restrict us all.
