Letter to the Editor: parking reply

DEAR News Of The Area,

I was surprised to see the article “Council ‘committed to parking solutions’” in the paper (31 December).

I raised the same problem to the Council 12 months or more ago and I believe nothing has been done.

There are no stopping signs in Crolls Mill Lane, which are totally ignored, whilst another sign with both No Stopping and No Right Turn has been lying in the IGA carpark for two or more years.

I was advised the situation had been referred to the parking committee, that was the last I heard – zero feedback from the unknown members of the said committee.

Dare I say it, that is the modus operandi of the council.

Even council employees are frustrated that the parking in Dowling Street does not get policed, and that utilities parking beside the Council in Brown Street cuts off a fair amount of the footpath.

Does the Council have parking officers?

They could make a killing when you consider the towns and villages within the Shire where people don’t follow the traffic signage.

Same goes for speed and school zone signs.

The Catholic primary school in Dungog has a School Zone sign that is only approximately 35 metres from the school boundary.
