A RAUCOUS crowd rocked the Royal Hotel at the Dungog Wholefood Co-operative’s third annual karaoke night on Saturday, 12 September.
Adult performances included classics such as Islands in the Stream, La Bamba, and Run to Paradise, through to more contemporary showstoppers from the White Stripes, Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift.
“The costumes were ridiculously over the top,” co-organiser Anna Crane said.
“We had icons like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Offspring, Sister Sledge, Prince and more.
“Their performances got the audience out of their seats, belting out tunes and boogieing away.
“It was just such a feel-good night: a great community-building event that raised much-needed funds to keep our community hub thriving.”
Kids’ Hour was a highlight.
“The kids performed with talent and courage,” Ms Crane said.
“They covered an impressive range of genres – from country and dance music to four decades of pop.”
Junior category winners included Reuben Willcock (Best Dressed Kid), Hugo Willcock (Best Kid Performer), and Albie Willoughby (Wild Card Winner), taking out the prize for the inaugural Best Dressed Dolly Parton, which was open to both age groups.
The Royal Hotel donated the venue, and their hardworking staff helped to make the night a success.
