Works on East Seaham Road now complete

ROADWORKS on East Seaham Road are now complete, following investments from all levels of government.

The project included reconstructing the entire 3.1km unsealed section of East Seaham Road to become sealed and match road widths of previously constructed stages; upgraded drainage infrastructure to cater for large storm events and flooding; and installation of road safety barriers where required.

A total of $7,181,418 was invested in the project, including $842,000 of Australian Government Black Spot Funding, $2,832,000 from a NSW Government election commitment, and a Port Stephens Council contribution of $3,507,418.

Federal Member for Lyne Alison Penfold said the project was a long time coming for locals.

“Locals have long campaigned for this road work to be completed and I hope that this upgraded section of road makes a huge difference to them getting about their business and their lives,” Ms Penfold said.

“The Black Spot Program targets locations with a history of crashes or a high risk of serious incidents, and this upgrade will help reduce that risk for everyone using the road.

“I thank Port Stephens Council and the team of engineers and contractors for their great work.”

Ms Penfold said regional communities deserve continued investment in infrastructure that keeps people safe and supports local connectivity.

“This is a strong outcome for East Seaham and the surrounding community, and I will continue to advocate for practical investments that improve safety and strengthen our regional and rural road network, including the serious need for grade-separated interchanges at Medowie Road and the Bucketts Way.
