RESIDENTS of Paterson and surrounding communities will come together on Sunday, 24 May for a National Volunteer Day Community Celebration.
The event, to be held in John Tucker Park, Paterson from 10am to 1pm, will recognise local volunteers and encourage more people, especially young people, to get involved.
Volunteer organisations from Paterson, Martins Creek, Vacy, Clarence Town, Dungog and surrounding areas will come together to celebrate and promote volunteering.
Funds for the event were provided through a Community Connections Volunteering Information Hub Establishment Grant awarded by The Centre for Volunteering to Gresford Community Group Inc, with further support from the Rotary Club of Paterson.
“Community members can meet local volunteer groups, explore ‘Try Volunteering’ opportunities, collect youth volunteer information, and connect with organisations making a real difference,” organisers told NOTA.
Groups including the Rural Fire Service, Red Cross, Community Builders, Country Women’s Association, sporting clubs, historical societies, school P&Cs and car clubs are invited to take part.
