TEN-YEAR-OLD Reese Lawrence from Clarence Town is quickly making a name for herself on the local country music scene, driven by a love of classic ballads and a determination well beyond her years.
Inspired by legends such as Patsy Cline and LeAnn Rimes, Reese stepped onto the stage for the first time just four months ago and now travels hundreds of kilometres each week to perform at Country Music Days, open mic events and, more recently, through busking.
With Tamworth Country Music Festival 2026 firmly in her sights, her journey is gathering momentum.
Reese is guided by singing teacher Amanda Street and has recently begun guitar lessons with Tara from Kirby Campbell Music Tuition.
She also attends singing events with Tara and is mentored by respected country singer-songwriters Katie Bagnell and Sandy Louise, who regularly accompany her on stage and support her musical growth.
A major highlight in Reese’s young career came when she was invited to sing with Australian country music star Amber Lawrence during her 2025 “You Can Admit You Like Country Tour” at Paterson Hall.
The annual tour, now in its 11th year, raises funds for the Red Cross and draws strong community support.
Amber Lawrence is one of Reese’s biggest inspirations, with her songs often playing during long car trips across the countryside on the way to performances.
Sharing the stage with her idol was an unforgettable experience for the young singer.
Reese’s mother, Jodi Lawrence, said the moment was incredibly special for her daughter.
“Amber Lawrence is a huge inspiration to her.”
With passion, dedication and strong community support behind her, Reese Lawrence’s country music journey is only just beginning.
