Burlesque troupe set to ‘seductively entertain’ at the James Theatre

THE James Theatre is bracing itself for The Wollombi Burlesque Troupe to “seductively entertain” locals on 28 March with their latest show, “Tainted”.

The Troupe’s Sophie Cook described the show as a “Victorian comedy burlesque opera” set to live 90s grunge music.

“This hilarious period fusion has pole, burlesque, comedy, magic, drag, stilts, sexy slapstick, nostalgic 90s music and very little opera,” she said.

Creating shows for a decade, the Troupe has ventured further afield this year to include Dungog in their Tainted tour.

Musicians from Maitland join veteran burlesquer Legs 11.11 with a motley crew of vaudeville performers from Wollombi plus indigenous drag queen Angel Cup Cakes and Philipino burlesque sensation Lexxxy Loosa.

They will descend on Dungog on 28 March to give the town some “over the top” entertainment. “Book VIP if you can to get guaranteed front row tickets with the chance to get in on the action,” Sophie said.
