REDUCED operating hours at the Stroud Customer Service Point and Library were adopted at MidCoast Council’s 29 April meeting.
The facility will now operate from Tuesday to Thursday, 9am to 12pm.
The move comes after a three month trial and a community feedback period open from Tuesday 27 January to Monday 2 March 2026.
The community was asked to complete a short survey to identify how the reduced hours trial impacted library and customer service point users.
A total of 24 surveys were completed and one written submission was received.
“We heard clearly that the community’s main concern was the possibility of the customer service point and library closing altogether,” said Council’s Director of Corporate Services, Paul De Szell.
“This trial was always about finding a financially sustainable way to continue offering services the community values.”
According to Council, feedback showed that most library users were able to access the service on alternative days, with minimal impact from the Monday and Friday closures.
Council notes the Stroud community also has access to a range of alternative services that complement those offered at the customer service point.
The Stroud Post Office operates Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, and accepts all Council payments.
Council’s call centre (02) 7955 7777 is also available Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, and call data shows this is the primary way Stroud residents have chosen to interact with Council.
