Clarence Town ‘Swim In’ attracts another big turnout

THE last Saturday of October marked the final day of the 2026 Clarence Town Swim In.

The annual get-together has been a community event and part of the town’s tourism activities for more than a decade.

The event sees lovers of Australian military history – especially amphibious vehicles of all shapes and sizes – come from near and far to bring historical and modern vehicles to Clarence Town Caravan Park.

Run over three days, the annual gathering includes numerous community-based activities, including group bush runs, various food and a range of stalls.

It culminated with a street parade around Clarence Town which saw 41 vehicles take part.

Visits to the local school and Lara Aged Care were also scheduled.

Melissa Crane, Michael Redgate and Damien Eyre took over as co-organisers two years ago, backed by Taskforce Veteran.

“It’s been a pretty good turnout,” Eyre told News Of The Area

“The main street was packed – people were everywhere.

“Everyone we spoke to loved it.”

When asked about hopes for the future of Swim In, Redgate and Eyre replied: “We’re not going anywhere!”

While the Taskforce Veteran charity runs many events, the Swim In is uniquely different, attracting military vehicle lovers and their machines from across NSW and beyond to the small Lower Hunter town each year.
