Dungog Under 12s netball finish state titles as runners-up

DUNGOG Netball Association’s Under 12 representative team has capped off an exceptional 2026 season with a second-place finish at the Netball NSW Junior State Titles in Camden, held from 4–6 July.

The talented young side delivered an incredible performance across the three-day tournament, finishing equal on competition points at the top of the ladder before being narrowly separated on percentage to claim the title of Under 12 Division 4 runners-up.

The team was outstanding throughout the carnival, remaining undefeated on the final day of competition and winning 18 of their 20 matches across the weekend. Their consistency, determination and teamwork were on full display as they competed against some of the strongest junior netball teams from across New South Wales.

Coach Jess Murray and manager Brandi Palermo said they could not be prouder of the girls and everything they achieved throughout the tournament.

“This group has shown incredible determination, resilience and sportsmanship all season. To finish runners-up after such a competitive tournament is an amazing achievement, and every player should be so proud of what they accomplished.”

The support from the sidelines was just as memorable, with Dungog’s passionate parents and supporters bringing unmatched enthusiasm on the final day. Dressed in colourful 1980s tracksuits and wearing personalised player face shirts, the cheering squad created an unforgettable atmosphere that lifted the team throughout their final matches.

Beyond the impressive results on court, the carnival was filled with moments that truly captured the spirit of representative sport. The girls formed new friendships with players from associations across the state, shared encouraging messages with fellow teams, and created lifelong memories both on and off the court.

The Camden carnival also marked the conclusion of Dungog Netball Association’s 2026 representative season, which has been one of the association’s most successful in recent years.

Attention will now turn to preparations for 2027, with the association set to begin calling for players, coaches, managers and officials in the coming months as it looks to build on another outstanding representative year.
