In January this year, Jack received the Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year Award.

He now has his sights set on transforming the local community’s creative scene for youth.

News Of The Area asked Jack what made him want to get involved with the Clarence Town Community Builders Project.

“It was mainly seeing how this local area had the potential to grow but it needed a push for youth,” he said.

At 15 years of age, Jack is part of a Community Builders working group whose vision is to create a hub for youth in Clarence Town.

The group aims to establish a Creative and Performative Arts (CAPA) program.

The CAPA program would work with local families to produce workshops, events and productions including art, music, theatre, storytelling, creative writing, and book signings.

“We want to create a safe space for young people in the area, and surrounding areas, to express themselves in a creative way and to socialise with like-minded people,” Jack said.

So far, the group has attracted the attention of the Gresford Art Society and the Clarence Town Progress Association.

Jack will be present at the Clarence Town Bowling Club Thursday 13 August at 6pm.

There, his group along with several other groups, will showcase their innovative ideas for the local community at the Community Builders Meeting.
